using "days of creation" as a living science curriculum

Materials Needed:

  • Living science books
  • Scrapbook materials
  • art supplies
  • table space
How-To:
  1. Make an empty "Days of Creation" scrapbook.
  2. Choose a living science book.
  3. Parent reads section of the book aloud.
  4. Children make a scrapbook illustrating what they learn from the chapter ("narration" with art supplies)
  5. After scrapbook page is finished (and dry!) add that page to the "Days of Creation" scrapbook under the appropriate day (and possibly sub-section).
Optional:
  • Provide different kinds of art supplies (tempera paints, chalks, pastels, etc.) at different "science" sessions enabling children to experiment with different types of media.
  • For the non-participating art student, offer to the student the option of writing a narration of the day's reading either in prose or poetry.
